Dental Implant Placement
Because precise and comprehensive planning and placement of dental implants is the key to a successful finish, we utilize the latest technology to view your oral structures and create the optimal dental implant placement plan.
How Do You Plan for Dental Implants?
To support dental implant posts, we must make sure your jawbone is strong. Following the loss of your teeth and their roots, the supportive jawbone can slowly grow weaker over the years. If your jawbone is weak or has deteriorated, we will need to discuss other treatment options to address your missing teeth.
While it may seem like a post simply needs to fit up-and-down within the empty socket, placing a post is a much more exact science. The exact place and angle of the post must be planned to adequately absorb your bite’s pressure in conjunction with the rest of your healthy, natural teeth. For the clearest view, and improved diagnostic ability, we utilize advanced imaging technology, such as;
- Digital X-rays
- 3D imaging, such as CT scans
- Digital intraoral pictures
What Can I Expect from Implant Placement?
Once your implant placement surgery begins, will numb the area with local anesthesia to reduce discomfort, and possibly administer dental sedation for increased comfort. During the procedure, we will place the titanium implant posts into their predetermined places in your jawbone, which usually takes approximately one hour. Because the posts need to fuse to your bone to create a solid supportive structure, you will have to wait 4-6 months while your jawbone heals. Afterwards, we will complete your tooth replacement procedure by securing an appropriate dental implant restoration (i.e., dental crown, partial, or complete denture) to the inserted posts.
